| Note | A total of 12 Bethlehem Jewish lads volunteered in unison to join the South African Forces in fighting the Second World War against Germany. Mr Sam Jankelowitz (88), a well-known Jewish resident of Bethlehem, was one of them and is seen in the front row on the left. With him are from the left, front: Clive Radford (mascot) and Eric Berman; middle: Charlie Lazarus, Syd Jacobson, Sam Shifren, Ben Jacobson and Abie Strashoon; back: Lionel Berman, Solly Rosenberg, Isaac Shapiro, Jay Shifren and Hymie Shifren.
