HAMMER — ZELDA. Peacefully, at Burnfield Care Home, on 12th May 2013, Zelda, beloved mother of Harold and wife of the late Julian. With grateful thanks to all the staff at Burnfield.

| Note | Zelda and her sister Chaya were in the Stutthof concentration camp together and Zelda's emotional and physical strength helped them both survive the war. During the evacuation in 1945 they participated in the death march and were were saved by a German solder who told them to hide in a barn along the route of the march and brought them food. Zelda's first husband died in the concentration camps and she met her second husband, Julian, in a Displaced Person camp after the war. Sol managed to bring her to Glasgow by saying she would be a housekeeper to one of Grandma's cousins. Julian was sponsored a year or so later and they were married in Grandma and Sol's house. Their son is Harold. |
