Note	Morris Samson, originally Moses Samson (Elias' brother) died on 22 July 1955 at Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia aged 88. He trained as a pastor of the German Reformed Church in Schleswig-Holstein; emigrated to New York in 1894; and had livings in Indiana and Pennsylvania before settling in Philadelphia as pastor of the Chapel at Fifth and Rockland. He had a daughter with his first wife, Martha Ruetinik whom he married in Indiana in 1897. The daughter, Edna Elizabeth Samson was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on 1 July 1898 and married Edwin Colby Byam in 1947: there were no children. She died in 1972 in Connecticut. In 1914 he married Mary S Eaches of Spring City, who was born in Pennsylvania in about 1881. Elias Samson was so appalled at his conversion to Christianity that when he heard Morris was visiting Sunderland he rushed to the railway station with a shotgun and prevented him from getting off the train!
