Death
Miriam Charron (Née Seligman) Peacefully and with grace on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Royal Victoria Hospital. She is predeceased by her dear loving husband Cecil. Survived by her loving children Mitchell (Lisa), Andrew (Judy), and Naomi (Arjun), her grandchildren Adam (Angel), Ori, Milo and Jayden, her brother Fred Seligman (Cathy) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Miriam Seligman was born Feb 18, 1933, in Montreal. She loved telling stories about growing up in Mile End, about her grandfather and the bagel business, the extended family and, mostly, about her children and grandchildren. Her legacy within the community and the city is tremendous and long-lasting. In 1989, seeing a need, she and The National Council of Jewish Women spearheaded the establishment of Auberge Shalom pour femmes, Canada’s first kosher women’s shelter for women and children of all faiths impacted by conjugal abuse. Nothing made her happier than when family would assemble and celebrate, laugh and commiserate. Her greatest joys could be found in her family, and in her friends and community. Her friendship and love were magical and without limits. She gave of herself to anyone and all who asked or needed it. To know Miriam and to be loved by her was to understand loyalty. The family extends love and gratitude to Esther for her exceptional care and companionship. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Beth Tikvah Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva details to be announced. Contributions in her memory and legacy may be made to Auberge Shalom pour femmes, https://www.aubergeshalom.org/, 514-485-4783. “Miriam was fearless, and lived a life of empathy, compassion, courage and love, and the world is smaller with her loss.” https://www.paperman.com/en/funerals/2024-1-29-miriam-charron--n-e-seligman-?fbclid=IwAR2Gbow7nIhlljT_JtzdU9JvvT_tiY9AaenC4aMJe99YQbXzd6DQCmH7D_Q
