Burial: Temple Emanuel Cemetery Roanoke Roanoke City Virginia, USA Sidney (Jerry) Rosenbaum, Jr., of Bedford, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 20, 2009, born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, November 14, 1921. He was the son of the late Sidney J. Rosenbaum, Sr. and Rose Lyons Rosenbaum. Mr. Rosenbaum attended Virginia Tech, served in the United States Air Corps in World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of Capt., served with the 90th Bomb Group in the Pacific for 37 months during World War II, was Commander of the Fred W. Stockham American Legion Post 245 and at his death was a member of Post 42 in Martinsville. For many years he was an insurance executive in Martinsville and also served as President of the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Virginia and D.C. in 1970 - 1971. Mr. Rosenbaum was also a member of Temple Emmanuel and was a resident of the National Elks Home in Bedford. Jerry was preceded in death by two wives, Zelda F. Rosenbaum and Jane P. Rosenbaum. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney J. Rosenbaum, III and Diane of Roanoke; and two grandsons, Jerr Rosenbaum of Arlington and Dan Rosenbaum of Charlotte, North Carolina. Funeral services will be at Temple Emmanuel 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 with Rabbi Kathy S. Cohen officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Emmanuel Cemetery.
