On Monday, January 10, the Detroit News ran a story on "Oakland U.'s Oldest Undergrad", Harry Schucart, 70. "PHILOSOPHY STUDENT IS 70" by Lou Mleczko, News Staff Writer Harry Schucart, of Southfield, is finally fulfilling a promise he made to himself 55 years ago. Schucart, a semiretired official for·the Vlasic Food Products Co., is now in his fourth year of study at Oakland University majoring in phi losophy. At age 70, he also is the oldest undergraduate student currently enrol led at the school. "I've been an unhappy guy ever since I left school when I was 15 to work," said Schucart, who last week celebrated his birthday with a party involving some of his professors and classmates at the Rochester campus. Schucart, a part-time public relations man for Vlasic, started his own pickle business in St. Louis in 1927.
