Occupation | In Granite City National Bank building, established 1902. Fleishman's moved to the building in 1921. Building still exists and is occupied by Krumrey's Furniture.
Herman Fleishman & Nathan Taurog (Fleishman), owner and proprietors of The Quality Corner, began business in Granite City in 1903. With A. Levanthal, he established the Good Luck Store at 19th and E (now Edison Ave.) Streets. In 1912 he bought out his partner.
When the Granite City National Bank was built on Niedringhaus Ave., Mr. Fleishman purchased their former quarters at 19th and D (now Delmar Ave.) Streets, which he has remodelled into one of the finest men’s clothing and furnishing stores in Southern Illinois, carrying only the best of national advertised merchandise and having a personnel of pleasing young men. The Quality Corner is the home of Hart, Schaffner & Marx Clothes, Manhattan Shirts, Bostonian Shoes, Mallory Hats, Interwoven Hose, Cheney Silks, and other quality merchandise.
Aside from his business at the Quality Corner, Mr. Nathan Fleishman takes an active part in civic and fraternal affairs, being a member of the Nineteenth Street Improvement Association, Granite City Commercial Club, and Rotary Club; director of the Granite City Trust and Savings Bank, and also of the Granite City Building and Loan Association ; is a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Elks and other orders.
