Marie Norton Lacey
Of McLean, VA, died November 9, 2018 at the age of 94. Beloved wife to the late John Martin Lacey. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Marie was a bright addition to any group she found herself in, and if there was anyone else within earshot, she was in a group. In the words of one of her innumerable aphorisms, she "never met a stranger." She was well known for her ability to elicit a life story from just about anyone; it was fitting that her favorite reading was biographies. She loved to talk, abhorred being bored ("to be bored is to be boring," she would say), and could sing parts from thousands of songs and would do so whenever she liked. She loved life, and made the most of it however she could. Survivors include three children, Patrick Lacey of Arlington, VA, Katie Lacey of New York and Caroline Lacey of Falls Church, VA; four stepchildren, Linda Haller of Pittsburgh, PA, John M. Lacey Jr. of Fairfax, VA, Robert Lacey of Asheville, NC, and Michael Lacey of Danvers, MA; grandchildren Jacob Lacey and Kate Lacey, John M. and J. Thomas Lacey, and Lee and Sam Haller; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Murphy's Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA.
