In the 1877 Court Report, Simon's daughter, Lizzie SANDEMAN, said ' My father has a step-brother in Newcastle, he lives in BOWDEN ST.' The German accent would have rendered BURDEN & BOWDEN as the same sound. The family must have come to Britain c. 1862/1863 as Augusta was born in Prussia & she was 8 in 1871. (The first indication of the SANDMAN family in UK is the birth of triplets to Simon (the criminal) In London April 1864.) Simon came from Prussia. I am asking for the birth certs of the twins, previously unknown to me. I fear they must have died. Janet was 46, old to bear children-it's just possible she wasn't the mother & was hiding a transgression of Johanna. I have all the details of this fmaily from later Censuses. But the twins dont re-appear.
