Stewart Weiss Buhai
Stewart Weiss Buhai, 78, died Sept. 27, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev., due to complications from a stroke. Stewart was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Michael and Tillie (Weiss) Buhai. Stewart was raised in Winnetka, Ill., where he attended New Trier High School (Class of 1941). Stewart served in the Navy during World War II as a Signalman Second Class. After the war, he earned a Journalism degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign where he was a member of the ZBT Fraternity. After a career as a newspaper reporter in Ill. and Calif., Stewart owned and operatecd Camp Jackpine, a private boys summer camp in Wascott, Wisc., for 30 years. He retired to Las Vegas where he loved to play craps. He is survived by his son Steven Buhai, daughter Linda (Chris) Steinman, granddaughter Sara Steinman, brother Jim (Sherry) Buhai, and sisters Carolyn Hass and Sandra Barz. SERVICE:Private services were held.
