Born September 20, 1929, in Great Neck, NY, he was the son of Joseph H. Hirshhorn and Jennie Berman Hirshhorn. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the North Cove Yacht Club, on Sheffield Street (no street number), Old Saybrook, CT. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Hirshhorn, and his daughters Jennifer Hirshhorn and Rachel Mason, and son Aaron Siegel; his sisters Gene LePere and Naomi Caryl; and his former wife, Helen Hirshhorn, and brother-in-law Robert S. Cohen. His sister Robin Cohen and daughter Rebecca Caryl pre-deceased him. He was a practicing Family Therapist and lectured internationally. He was a graduate of Wesleyan University and undertook graduate studies at Boston University. His interests were wide-ranging and deep: he was an avid photographer, a musician, a pilot and aviation aficionado, a ham radio operator, and an enthusiastic and skilled sailor. Beside all of this, he played any number of musical instruments, was an astronomer; was a fascination man who could speak with authority on almost any subject as he was a vociferous reader and remembered everything he read.
